Porto Cristo grew up around fishing and the Coves del Drac caves next door, and it still feels like a real town rather than a resort — even in August.
It's the best base on the east coast for beach-hopping: a string of coves from Cala Romàntica to Cala Varques sit within a 20-minute drive, and the diving and snorkeling here is some of the clearest on the island.

Where to swim nearby
Cala Romàntica
A narrow fjord-like inlet a few minutes from Porto Cristo. Calm, shallow at the back, and easy to get to — a solid pick with young kids.
Cala Anguila
Wide, sandy, and less photographed than its neighbors — which around here just means fewer people and more space to actually relax.
Cala Varques
A proper walk-in cove backed by pines, no road access at all. We wrote an entire dedicated guide to this one — it deserves it.
